Silver futures gain on spot demand

Silver prices on Monday rose 4 per cent to Rs 48,585 per kg in futures trade as participants widened their bets on firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for July delivery gained Rs 1,867, or 4 per cent, to Rs 48,585 per kg in 8,285 lots.

In the international market, silver was quoting 3.75 per cent higher at USD 17.71 per ounce in New York.
