Silver prices on Wednesday rose by Rs 444 to Rs 44,331 per kg in futures trade as participants widened their bets amid a firm trend in precious metals overseas.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for December delivery gained Rs 444, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 44,331 per kg in 4,557 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March next year was trading higher by Rs 437, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 44,945 per kg in 154 lots.
Traders said fresh bets by participants in line with a firm trend in global markets mainly led to rise in silver futures.
In the international market, silver was up 1.31 per cent at USD 16.91 an ounce in New York.
