Buoyed by a firming trend overseas, silver prices went up by Rs 294 to Rs 34,068 per kg in futures trade today largely as specultors widened their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March was trading higher by Rs 294, or 0.87%, to Rs 34,068 per kg in a business turnover of 716 lots.

Also, the white metal for delivery in far-month May spurted by Rs 279, or 0.82% to Rs 34,487 per kg in 15 lots.
