Tracking recovery in global market, silver prices rose by Rs 254 to Rs 43,135 per kg in futures trading today as traders built up fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December was trading higher by Rs 254, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 43,135 per kg, in a business turnover of 594 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month March next year was up by Rs 243, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 44,033 per kg in 20 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by participants at prevailing levels after yesterday's steep fall, helped silver to trade in positive terrain.

Besides, a recovery in the precious metals overseas too supported the upside, they added.

Meanwhile, silver rose 1.04 per cent to USD 17.96 an ounce in Singapore.
