Silver prices fell 0.46 per cent to Rs 34,645 per kg in futures trade today as participants trimmed their positions on weak global cues.

Besides, subdued demand in the spot market fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March month fell by Rs 161, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 34,645 per kg in business turnover of 6,092 lots.

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in far-month May contracts traded lower by Rs 132, or 0.38 per cent to Rs 35,008 per kg in 126 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by traders amid weak global cues, mainly kept silver prices lower at futures trade.

Globally, silver fell 1.80 per cent to USD 14.22 an ounce in New York in yesterday's trade.
