Silver prices were up by 0.27 per cent to Rs 41,485 per kg in futures trading today as traders increased their bets amid firming global trends.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March moved up by Rs 113, or 0.27 per cent to Rs 41,485 per kg in business turnover of 387 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month May contracts traded higher by Rs 84, or 0.20 per cent to Rs 42,100 per kg in 16 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade to a firming trend in the precious metals overseas and pick up in demand in the spot market.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.53 per cent to USD 17.16 an ounce in Singapore.
