Silver futures rise by 0.3%

Silver prices rose by 0.26% to reach Rs 36,183 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions even as the white metal weakened overseas.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month May traded higher by Rs 95, or 0.26%, at Rs 36,183 per kg, in a business turnover of 439 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in March was up by Rs 59, or 0.17%, to Rs 35,680 per kg in just one lot.

Analysts said fresh positions built by speculators helped silver futures trade but a weak trend overseas, capped the gains.

Meanwhile, silver was down 0.20% at $14.78 an ounce in Singapore today.
