Silver futures rise by 0.3% on global cues

Speculators created fresh positions amid a firming trend in overseas markets

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Silver prices were up by Rs 117 to Rs 37,517 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firming trend in overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September rose by Rs 117, or 0.31%, to Rs 37,517 per kg in a business turnover of 57 lots.

On similar lines, white metal for delivery in July was trading higher by Rs 97, or 0.26%, at Rs 36,975 per kg with a business volume of 1,380 lots.

Fresh positions built up by speculators, tracking a firming trend overseas as the dollar fell -- raising appeal of precious metals after the Federal Reserve signalled that the pace of policy tightening will be gradual -- helped silver futures to rise.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.3% to $16.17 an ounce in Singapore today.
