Silver futures shed 0.12 pc on weak global trend

Silver prices were down by 0.12 per cent to Rs 42,870 per kg in evening trade in futures market today amid a weak trend overseas.

The exchange remained closed for the morning session on account of 'Muharram'.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March next year fell by Rs 52 or 0.12 per cent to Rs 42,870 per kg in business turnover of just one lot.

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in December contracts was trading lower by Rs 42 or 0.10 per cent to Rs 41.956 per kg in 311 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in silver prices to a weak trend in global market.
 

Meanwhile, silver lost 1.02 per cent to USD 17.43 an ounce in New York York yesterday.
