Silver prices declined by 0.17 per cent to Rs 41,360 per kg in futures market today as speculators trimmed their bets in line with a weak trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month May fell by Rs 71, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 41,360 per kg, in a business turnover of 24 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in March was trading lower by Rs 32, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 40,827 per kg in 1,729 lots.

Traders said offloading of positions by participants in tandem with a weak trend overseas, mainly influenced silver prices at futures trade.

Globally, silver fell 0.42 per cent to USD 16.67 an ounce in Singapore.
