Amid a weakening trend overseas, silver prices fell Rs 192 to Rs 39,522 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in profit-booking.

Silver for delivery in May was trading lower by Rs 192, or 0.48 per cent, at Rs 39,522 per kg in a business turnover of 7 lots in futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in March was down Rs 185, or 0.47 per cent, at Rs 39,016 per kg with a business turnover of 7 lots.

In the international market, silver traded 1.19 per cent lower at USD 16.98 an ounce in New York yesterday.

Market analysts said a weak trend in precious metals in global markets and profit-booking by speculators at existing levels weighed on silver futures here.
