Silver prices rose by Rs 622 to Rs 42,169 per kg in futures trading today as participants widened their bets amid a firming trend in precious metals overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July was trading higher by Rs 622 or 1.50 per cent at Rs 42,169 per kg in a business turnover of 1,686 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month September rallied by Rs 617 or 1.46 per cent to Rs 42,395 per kg in 120 lots.

Analysts said bets enlarged by speculators in tandem with a firming trend in precious metals overseas after the Federal Reserve scaled back the outlook for interest-rate increase and Fed Chair Janet Yellen signaled rates may stay lower for longer, boosting appeal of the precious metals, influenced silver prices here.
Meanwhile, silver was up 1.49 per cent at USD 17.75 an ounce in Singapore.
