Silver futures spurt 0.42 pc, aided by global cues

Taking positive cues from the global market, silver prices rose by Rs 164 to Rs 39,980 per kg in futures trade today as traders created speculative positions.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for July delivery was trading higher by Rs 142, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 39,281 per kg in a business turnover of 498 lots.

Also, the white metal for delivery in far-month September rose by Rs 161, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 39,980 per kg in 369 lots.

In the international market, silver gained 0.66 per cent to USD 16.08 an ounce in Singapore.

Market analysts said a firming trend in precious metals in the global market influenced silver prices at futures trade here.
