Tracking a firm trend in the precious metals overseas, silver prices rose Rs 153 to Rs 42,555 per kg in futures trade today as speculators widened their positions.
In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December surged by Rs 153 or 0.36 per cent to Rs 42,555 per kg in a business turnover of 657 lots.
The white metal for delivery in March was trading higher by Rs 138 or 0.32 per cent to Rs 43,225 per kg in 43 lots.

Market analysts said speculative positions built up by participants, driven by firm global trend, mainly attributed to the rise in silver prices at futures trade here.
Meanwhile, silver traded 0.03 per cent higher at USD 17.88 an ounce in Singapore.
