Silver futures surge Rs 260 on positive global cues

Silver prices rose by Rs 260 kg to Rs 47,338 per kg in evening session in futures market today on firm global trends.

The exchange remained closed for the morning session on account of 'Ganesh Chaturthi'.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month March spurted by Rs 260, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 47,338 per kg in business turnover of 19 lots.

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in December contracts shot up by Rs 255, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 46,270 per kg in 1,471 lots.

Analysts attributed the uptick in silver prices to a firm global trend.
 

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.05 per cent to USD 19.43 an ounce in London.
