Metal for delivery in July traded higher by 0.12%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Silver prices rose by Rs 74 to Rs 42,681 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, tracking a firming trend in the precious metals overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 74, or 0.17%, at Rs 42,681 per kg in business turnover of 545 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in July traded higher by Rs 51, or 0.12%, to Rs 43,366 per kg in 109 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions built-up by speculators largely in tandem with a firming trend in the precious metals overseas as a worsening crisis in Ukraine stoked haven demand, influenced silver prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver was up one cent at USD 19.74 an ounce in Singapore.
