Silver prices were up by Rs 233 to Rs 48,725 per kg in futures trade today after participants raised their bets amid firming global trends.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month December was up by Rs 233 or 0.48 per cent to Rs 48,725 per kg in a business turnover of 9 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 230 or 0.49 per cent to Rs 47,592 per kg in business volume of 799 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade to a firming trend in the precious metal overseas as dollar's safe-haven appeal weakened after the US Federal Reserve reiterated a gradual approach to raising interest rates.

Globally, silver traded 0.30 per cent higher at USD 20.17 an ounce in Singapore.
