Taking weak cues from overseas markets, silver prices drifted lower by 0.20 per cent to Rs 42,674 per kg in futures trading today as speculators trimmed their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July declined by Rs 85, or 0.20 per cent to Rs 42,674 per kg in business turnover of 5 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in May contracts traded lower by Rs 74, or 0.17 per cent to Rs 42,252 per kg in 300 lots.

Traders said the fall in silver prices at futures trade was largely in line with a weak trend in precious metals at global market.

Globally, silver fell 0.19 per cent to USD 18.19 an ounce in Singapore.
