Silver prices were up by Rs 412 to Rs 41,231 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged fresh positions amid a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July rose by Rs 412, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 41,231 per kg, in a business turnover of 469 lots.

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in May gained Rs 402, or 1 per cent, to Rs 40,592 per kg in 2,058 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators in tandem with a firm global trend, mainly led to the rise in silver prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.79 per cent to USD 17.27 an ounce in Singapore today.
