Silver prices went up by Rs 147 to Rs 40,052 per kg in futures trading today as participants widened their bets, mirroring a firm trend in the global market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March next year was trading notably higher by Rs 147, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 40,052 per kg, in a business turnover of six lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in December was up by Rs 138, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 39,399 per kg in 339 lots.

Analysts said a firming trend overseas where silver rallied influenced the white metal prices in futures trade.

Globally, silver rose 0.39 per cent to USD 16.92 an ounce in Singapore.
