Tracking a firming trend overseas, silver prices shot up by 1.14 per cent to Rs 43,242 per kg in futures trade today after participants widened bets in evening session.
The exchange remained closed in the morning session for 'Ram Navami'.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July surged by Rs 487, or 1.14 per cent, to Rs 43,242 per kg in business turnover of 66 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of a firm trend overseas mainly led to rise in silver prices at futures trade.
Globally, silver rose 0.47 per cent to USD 18.32 an ounce in New York.
