Silver up 0.2% on global cues

Metal for delivery in September traded higher by 0.17%

Silver prices rose by Rs 80 to Rs 44,220 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions, tracking a firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month December contracts gained by Rs 80, or 0.18% to Rs 44,220 per kg in business turnover of five lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 73, or 0.17% to Rs 43,390 per kg in 255 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators buoyed by a firm global trend which influenced silver metal prices at futures trade.
 
Meanwhile, in Singapore, silver traded higher at $19.86 an ounce in from $19.82 yesterday.
