Silver ornaments weighing more than a quintal and Rs 4.30 lakh cash were stolen by some unidentified persons from Baba Ramdev temple, police said today.

The thieves entered the temple premises through a window on Monday night, and decamped with silver ornaments and cash, despite the tight security there, they said.

The burglary came to light yesterday morning when the priests opened the room where the cash and ornaments offered by devotees was kept, police said.

"The thieves entered the room through a window which was found broken by the temple staff yesterday morning," Pokaran Circle Officer Dhimaram Vishnoi said today.

He said that there was a possibility of involvement of at least 6-7 burglars.

"We are examining the CCTV footage which is not very clear. Other efforts are also being made to identify the accused," Station House Officer (SHO) Ramdevra police station Mahesh Joshi said.
