Silver prices fell by Rs 100 to Rs 43,438 per kg in futures trade today as speculators cut down their bets, tracking a weak trend in global markets.

Silver for delivery in far-month May was down by Rs 100, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 43,438 per kg in futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange. It clocked a business volume of 57 lots.

The white metal for delivery in March fell by Rs 79 to trade at Rs 42,931 per kg, in a business turnover of 605 lots.

Market analysts said profit-booking at prevailing levels and a weak trend in the precious metals overseas, mainly pulled down silver prices at futures trade.

In the international market, silver traded 0.19 per cent higher at USD 18.02 an ounce in Singapore.
