Government organisations have the potential to become as successful as private enterprises with simplified processes, Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani said here today.

"Government institutions, including public enterprises, have the potential to become as successful as private enterprises and this is possible only when a deliberate attempt is made to overhaul the archaic culture in which complex processes are more important than achieving the goals," a release from the MCR HRD Institute of Telangana quoted him as saying in an address to trainee civil servants.

The release stated that Lohani underlined the importance of simplifying processes and bringing about structural reforms so as to make government institutions vibrant, competitive and result-oriented.

The release quoted Lohani as saying that the ultimate success of an organisation depends solely on the availability of competent human resources though money and material resources are important in their own right.

"Employees possess great potential which should be fully tapped by making them a part of the big picture, empowering them through delegation of authority, and appreciating their contribution," the release quoted Lohani.
