Singapore team prepares master plan for new AP capital

The Representatives of a Singapore-based consultancy firm arrived here today to finalise the master plan of the new capital of Andhra Pradesh in Vijayawada-Guntur region.

A team from Surbana International, led by its Director Leong Kin Weng, held a meeting with officials from Capital Region Development Area (CRDA) and Revenue Department to prepare maps for the master plan, Krishna District Collector A Babu said in a release here.

In the meeting, Leong explained the process of town planning in Singapore through a power point presentation, the Collector said.

During their stay, the visiting experts will study and earmark areas for green belts and waterways under CRDA, the release said.
 

The new capital, named 'Amaravathi', would be spread over 33,000 acres of land. The capital would be connected by radial roads and will have satellite townships. There would be a ring road, railway connectivity and a new airport.

Inland waterways and growth corridors would be developed around the capital and its region.
