The 66-year-old 'Wind Beneath My Wings' singer has agreed to film a cameo for the musical TV drama, the Hollywood Reporter said.
Murphy asked Midler while she was on stage for the God's Love We Deliver Golden Hearts Awards event in New York City.
"And from the stage, @ryanmurphy invited me to guest on @Glee! I should get out more," Midler posted on Twitter.
Murphy couldn't contain his excitement and also took to twitter to speak of his joy.
"Bette said yes! Amazing. I am plotting...Who should she play?" Murphy tweeted.
Midler is not the only star to sign up for the show as 'American Idol' runner-up Jessica Sanchez will also have a recurring role.
However, character details and a start date are yet to be revealed.
Stars to have appeared in 'Glee' include Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears, Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker.
