"We have held discussions on the issue and Singhdeoji remains leader of our legislature party. He will continue in the post," BJP's national General Secretary and Odisha in-charge Santosh Gangwar told reporters here.
Gangwar, who spoke to senior party leaders of Odisha including legislators, said Singhdeo had tendered his resignation due to some reasons but the matter has now been sorted out and the BJP legislature party in the state continues to be headed by him.
However, Singhdeo appeared to be unwilling to reverse his decision. "There is no question of taking back the resignation I had submitted. I stick to my decision," he told reporters.
Stating that he wanted the party to accept his resignation with immediate effect, the MLA from Patnagarh in Bolangir district said despite his decision to quit the post he would sincerely work for the party.
State BJP President Jual Oram, however, said that the decision of the central party leadership is final and Singhdeo continues to be the legislature party leader.
On August 27, on eve of the commencement of the monsoon session of Odisha assembly, Singhdeo disclosed that he had submitted his resignation as the legislature party leader.
State BJP chief Jual Oram had also confirmed having received the resignation letter and said that the central BJP leadership would take a decision on the matter. He also rejected talk of a revolt in the state party.
