Goa Governor Mridula Sinha has said that human beings have evolved from early stone age to the current modern world due their intelligence and with the advancement of science, communications have improved significantly.
She was speaking at the foundation day of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) at the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography NIO), Dona Paula.
Sinha urged the scientists to continue their research towards providing comforts to common man.
She also stressed on the need for everyone to be responsible towards nature and emphasised at the role of women towards furthering the societal issues.
On the occasion, a lecture was delivered by R S Bisht, former Joint Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on the topic 'Human's long march towards Harappan civilisation.'
Director of CSIR-NIO SWA Naqvi encouraged scientists to undertake research which is relevant to industry and society, so that they contribute towards the overall development of the country.
An open day was organised where over 500 students visited the institute.
