Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today inaugurated training workshops for around 24,000 teachers of Delhi's government schools.

An official said the workshops, which will carry on for a week, were being held across 97 venues across the city and would be attended by batches of 40-50 teachers.

Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, inaugurated the workshop at the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya on Dayanand Road in central Delhi's Daryaganj area.

According to the government, 2500-3500 regular, guest and contract teachers will attend the workshops every day.

The official said the workshops were a part of the Delhi government's plans to expand teacher training initiatives beyond the exercises conducted during the summer breaks every year.

"Our focus should be on childrens learning rather than on merely completing the syllabus," Sisodia said.
