Five persons, including a district level Trinamool Congress leader, who were arrested in connection with the murder of Sagar Ghosh were granted bail by a local court as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police failed to file the charge-sheet within the statutory period.

Acting Chief Judicial Magistrate Debkumar Goswami granted bail to Seikh Unus, Jagannath Das, Jaladhar Das, Prioya Mukherjee and TMC leader Seikh Mostafa as the SIT failed to submit the charge-sheet against them.

The five were arrested in the second week of February this year.

Sagar Ghosh, father of Hriday Ghosh, a rebel TMC candidate who had contested in the last panchayat election in Kasba village near Bolpur in Birbhum district was shot dead by the miscreants at his house on the eve of election day.
