"A high-level team under ADGP Law and Order M S Maan will investigate the allegations of rape of Apna Home inmates by police officials", Haryana DGP Ranjiv S Dalal told reporters today.

The SIT will also include IG Law and Order Mohammad Akil and SP rank officials, he added.

A section of media in its report today alleged that inmates of Apna Ghar in Rohtak were gang raped by some police officials of Haryana.

Expressing shock at the allegation levelled against Haryana police officials, the DGP said stringent action would be taken against those found guilty.

However, in the investigations carried out till now, no such allegations has come to the fore, he said.

Asked whether a CBI probe would be recommended in the Apna Ghar matter, the Haryana DGP said the state police was equally capable of carrying out a fair investigation.

As the case is related to children many agencies including a committee of the High Court, NCPCR, police and Women and Child Welfare Department have been investigating the matter since May 9, he said.

Apna Ghar had landed in controversy when a team of National Commission for Protection of Child Right (NCPCR) rescued nearly 120 people including children, girls and women from the shelter home after carrying out a surprise raid on May 9 last.

Inmates of Apna Home at Rohtak were allegedly subjected to sexual abuse, physical and mental exploitation and used as bonded labour.
