Site for setting up Agri Marketing Centre selected

A 12-acre site has been approved for establishing a Rs 30 crore Agricultural Marketing centre at Vinayakapuram near here.

Agricultural Department officials, including Director Rajendran, today selected the site.

Officials said the centre would be located in the sprawling Water Management Training Institute complex at Vinayakapuram on the Highway between Madurai and Tiruchirappalli.

The centre would come up at a cost of Rs 30 crore.

The farmers could market their produce including vegetables, fruits, flowers and foodgrains for selling at the centre. An agricultural godown would also come at a cost of Rs three crore in the site.

The centre would benefit people of South Tamil Nadu.
