Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today released a coffee-table book on the functioning of the department of defence production which plays a key role in indigenisation of military platforms for the armed forces.
The book titled "A journey towards self-reliance" chronicles the post-independence years of development, indigenisation and production of arms, ammunition and defence equipment.
It also highlights the government's approach in making India a global manufacturing hub for military platforms.
