The International Press Institute has written to Chief Justice of Kerala High Court expressing concern over situation for journalists covering court proceedings.
"You took important and welcome step of convening two meetings of media managers, journalists and representatives of attorneys in order to discuss this urgent issue of denial of right to cover court proceedings to journalists in the state of Kerala," IPI Executive Director, Barbaea Trionfi, said in the letter to Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar.
"However, since these meetings the situation for journalists in Kerala with respect to the courts has not improved. Reports indicate that journalists who attempted to cover the court on September 30 were forced out by attorneys and that police action was necessary to protect them.
