Situation returning to normal in BTAD, Dhubri

Official sources said there are 2,39,238 inmates in 218 camps in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Barpeta and Dhubri now.

In Dhubri sub-division, land documents of 8,545 families have been verified, while those of 5,533 families are pending, the sources said.

A list of 11,264 families of Bilasipara sub-division has been handed over to Kokrajhar district for verification, they said.

In Chirang district, 4,317 families have been verified, while in Kokrajhar, 2,337 families have been verified.

Assam Chief Secretary Naba Kumar Das, during the daily review of the security scenario, relief and rehabilitation process in BTAD, directed the deputy commissioners and concerned officials to ensure relief and rehabilitation was smooth and without any discrepancies.

 

He also directed Commissioner and Secretary, Elementary Education, L S Changsan to visit the BSF camp at Patagaon to see if tents available with them can be used to set up lower primary and middle schools.

Meanwhile, another special train carrying back people from the north east, who had returned from southern states following rumours, was scheduled to leave on September 8, Railways sources said.
