Six persons were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a jeweller last week in Narol area near Surat-Ahmedabad road, a top official said today.
"Six persons were arrested yesterday in connection with kidnapping of a jeweller and a country-made weapon, live cartridge and Rs 2 lakh were recovered from their possession and they have also been booked under the Arms Act for illegal possession of firearms," said A K Sharma, Joint Commissioner of Police.
Police said one person named Rohit lured a Naroda-based jeweller Bharat Shah for buying gold at a cheaper price and made him come to Deesa, a taluka in North Gujarat district of Banaskantha, from where he was kidnapped on Wednesday by four persons, who demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh from his family.

Dhiraj Shah, brother of Bharat handed over the money to kidnappers following which Bharat was released last week.
The eight kidnappers who had come with firearms and knives later fled from the spot, cops said.
Subsequently, police received a tip-off about their movements and nabbed six of them yesterday from Surat-Ahmedabad road, Sharma said.
The accused have been identified as Mokamsinh Vaghela(22), Leelvarsinh Vaghela (38), Vijubha Vaghela (38), Sanjay Soni (24), Pravinsinh Vaghela (22) and Rangatsinh Vaghela (31), all residents of Deesa taluka.
Three of them were previously involved in looting a company official and a firing incident in Rajasthan, Sharma said, adding that further probe was on.
