Six arrested for looting Rs 8 lakh

Six persons have been arrested for allegedly looting Rs 8 lakh from the collection agent of a trader in northeast Delhi's Seelampur area, police said today.

One of the accused, Kiran, had information about his neighbour carrying cash and he shared this with another accused, Deepak, who later included four other people in the plan to loot him, Ajit Kumar Singla, DCP (northeast) said.

On August 29, the accused on two motorcycles intercepted the victim near Seelampur flyover and picked up a fight with him after accusing him of eve-teasing their sister. During this, they snatched the bag containing cash and escaped, police said.
 

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Kiran Lal, Raju, Saleem, Deepak, Sonu and Guddu on Friday and Rs 6.40 lakh were recovered from them, they said.
