Six arrested for robbing employees of currency exchange firm

The gang had called two employees of Western Union company on the pretext of purchasing foreign currency. Later, the gang had severely beaten up the duo and robbed USD 35,000 (approx Rs 19.50 lakh) at gun-point and escaped.

Md Ezaz, Md Yamin, Tipu Mirza, Manish Bhatia, Rajpal and Pradeep Kumar were arrested in the capital, police said, adding that Rs 48,000 and USD 16,057 were recovered from the accused.

"The gang had taken a house on rent in Shyam Nagar area of Jaipur and on August 10, they asked the employees to meet them at their residence to exchange rupees with dollars. The gang attacked the employees and made way with the cash," a police official said in Jaipur.

 

The accused were produced in the Karkardooma court in Delhi which gave their transit remand to Rajasthan Police, a senior police official said.
