Six arrested for stealing cotton bales from trucks

On the night of June 8, six trucks loaded with cotton bales were proceeding to Attari border for their onward journey to Pakistan.

The cotton was being sent to Pakistan by Deendyal Purshotam Lal firm, a spokesman of the Police Department said here today.

He said that before taking the trucks to Attari international border, the drivers stole the cotton bales and hid them away.

However, the border officials refused to accept the delivery due to its reduced weight.

The suspects had stolen cotton bales worth Rs seven lakh and the firm had later registered a complaint with the police, he said.

 

The spokesman said that the six were later arrested form Kalanwali area.

The arrested persons had been identified as Devender Singh, Guruvinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Jitender Singh, all residents of village Ahrava of district Fatehahbad, Nirmal Singh, a resident of Meerana of Fatehabad and Sonu of Nahar Colony, Ratia.

All of them would be presented in the court to take their remand so as to recover cotton bales which they had stolen, he added.
