Six booked in land fraud case in Jammu

The Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ) has booked six persons, including three officials of the Revenue department for fraudulently selling state land.

Three officials of the Revenue department identified as Shabir Ahmed Malik (the then Naib Tehsildar, Bahu), Shabir Ahmed (the then Girdawar) and Muhammad Rashid (the then Pagwari Halqa Chowadhi) for entering into a criminal conspiracy with Major Singh, Kamal singh and Raspal Singh and transferring state land to them, an VOJ spokesman said.

The officials entered into a criminal conspiracy with the other accused and fraudulently and dishonestly managed the sale of state land measuring more then four Kanals (half acre) to gullible purchaser at Chowadhi, where revenue extracts were prepared, verified and attested of proprietary land of above mentioned beneficiaries.
 

"Verification has revealed that the officers/official of Revenue department have recorded, verified and attested mutations of proprietary land of beneficiaries while the accused public servants dishonestly, fraudulently and with ulterior motive to benefit the accused beneficiary knowingly gave possession to purchasers on state land", he said.

The spokesman said that by acting in this manner, the revenue officers/officials by abuse of their official positions and in active connivance with each other and with the accused beneficiaries and others have conferred undue benefit upon the said beneficiaries and thereby caused loss to state exchequer.

Accordingly a case has been registered under various section at Police Station Vigilance Organisation Jammu, he said.
