in carjacking on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway were arrested today, police said.

According to police, the gang was involved in at least two murders of car drivers on the highway earlier this year.

"The modus operandi of the gang is to hire a car and then kill its driver. They would then sell the stolen car in other states. They had killed a driver in April and another about a month back," said inspector Vijay Shinde of Valiv police station in Vasai.

He said the accused, including the kingpin of the gang, are residents of Vasai-Virar belt in Palghar district neighbouring Thane.
