Six children drown in two separate incidents in Jharkhand

Six children drowned today in two separate incidents in Chatra and Deoghar districts of Jharkhand, police said.

Three siblings aged between four to eight years drowned in a pond at Irki village under Itkhori police station of Chatra district, Superintendent of Police, Anjani Kumar Jha said.

Jha said the incident happened when one of the children was drowning, his two other siblings rushed to rescue him but they too drowned.

In an another incident, three children including two siblings were drowned in a water-filled trench in Barbad village under Madhupur police station of Deoghar district, police said.

Two the victims rushed in rescue their younger brother, who was drowning in a trench dug up near a brick kiln, but all of them drowned, sources said.
 

The victims have been identified as Ishu Murmu (8), his brother Anshu Murmu (7) and their cousin Chatru Hansdah (8).
