Six children killed in school roof collapse, inquiry ordered

A portion of the roof of Ramanand Public High School in Jalilpur village caved in this afternoon when the classes were going on and some students were trapped under the debris, police sources said here.

Uttar Pradesh has government ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Six students-- Deepak Kumar (13), Shani (10), Sunny (12), Shohrat (13), Raghvendra (12) and Hariom (10) were killed in the incident, they said.

Police said that seven students were injured in the accident and were admitted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav while expressing grief over the incident had ordered an inquiry, an official spokesman said here.

 

The chief minister has directed that proper treatment be provided to the injured students, he said.
