Six cops injured as villagers attack police team

Six policemen were injured today when some villagers here resorted to brick-batting and allegedly opened fire on a police team that had gone on a raid after receiving information about cow slaughter.

The raid was conducted in Bhargain village of the district by a joint team from three police stations following complain about cow slaughter, SSP Ajay Mohan Sharma said.

He said during the raid, the villagers attacked the police team, indulged in brick batting, and opened fire.

As many as six policemen were injured, whereas a person Najeem (22) sustained bullet injury, the SSP said, adding that it is being probed that who opened fire.
 

The policemen have been admitted to the district hospital and heavy police force has been deployed in the village.
