Six dead, 44 injured in two separate road mishaps in Raj

Six persons were killed and 44 others injured in two separate road accidents in Rajasthan's Pali district today.

A jeep collided head-on with a Rajasthan Roadways bus which left four of its occupants and a local girl dead.

Thirteen passengers of the jeep were also injured in the mishap, police said.

The six-year-old girl had gone to relieve herself when the vehicles collided, leaving her dead on the spot.

The victims travelling in the jeep were from Karnataka and were on way to their ancestral place when the mishap occurred on Palana road, SHO Takhatgarh police station Devendra Singh said.
 

Other deceased were identified as Dhapu Devi (62), Lalita (50), Ramesh (48) and Sonu (18).

Injured have been admitted to a local hospital in Sumerpur town.

In another mishap in the same district, a man was killed and 31 others were injured when a bus in which they were travelling overturned after being hit by a truck.

The accident happened in Sojat area when the bus was carrying a poll party for Panchayat Raj elections taking place tomorrow.

The deceased was identified as Devnarayan Prajapati, SHO Sojat Lunaram said.
