Six drown in Andhra

children drowned in separate incidents in Srikakulam and Medak districts of Andhra Pradesh today, police said.

Two sisters were among the three children who drowned in a canal check dam at Jarjam village in Etcherla mandal of Srikakulam district when they ventured into water to take bath at around 10 am, they said.

The deceased were identified as Pyla Divya (7), her sister Pyla Alekhya (5) and B H Sundara Rao (7). The bodies were fished out and sent for post-mortem, police said.

In another mishap, two women and a 13-year-old girl drowned while trying to save each other in a water tank where they had gone to wash clothes at Chidruppa village in Medak district, police said.

 

The incident occurred at around 3 pm when a three-year-old boy Jaswant lost his balance and fell in the tank following which his cousin Monika jumped in and even managed to rescue him but failed to reach the upper side of the tank, police said.

Two women Chandrakala (45) and Laxmamma (65) entered the water to save the girl, but the trio drowned in the process, Sangareddy Rurual Police said.
