They said the NLFT cadres left the six employees of Anupam Bricks and Concrete Industries (ABCI) near a BSF border outpost at Rajiv Nagar (Tupuibari) last evening. The reason for letting them go unharmed was not known.

Aizawl District SP Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said that there has been no communication from the ABCI on how the hostages were released by the insurgents.

"The health condition of the released captives was found to be satisfactory but one of them was having jaundice", Khiangte said.

The six employees of ABCI - Pushpa Shama, Pawan Singh, Sunil Singh, Shiya Ram, Purna Ram and Tikloo - were abducted on the midnight of March 25 from their camp near Mizoram-Bangladesh border at Mauzam village in south Mizoram's Lunglei district by 20 to 25 militants armed with Kalashnikov rifles.

Sources said that the NLFT cadres, who kept the ABCI employees in captivity inside Bangladesh, had demanded Rs 120 lakh as ransom for their release. PTI HCV CR HKS
