The police arrested six extortionists who had posed as "journalists", a senior police official said here today.
Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu tole reporters at a press conference that the gang targeted officials in high positions.
The Subedari police registered a case and arrested Marka Srikanth of Odel village in Karimnagar district, A Mahesh of Hanamkonda, Jatoth Krishna and E Ravi of Mattewada in Warangal district for allegedly extorting Rs 12 lakh from six different people, the police official said.
All those arrested have been produced in the district court.
