Six get life imprisonment for murder

A local court today sentenced six people, including three brothers, to life imprisonment for murdering a woman and her daughter over a land dispute.

Additional District and Sessions Judge DC Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on each of the brothers Naresh, Suresh and Ramniwas, and on Desh Pal, Kala and Sonu.

They were held guilty under section 302 (murder) of IPC and the court also directed them to pay Rs 1 lakh to the family of the victims, government lawyer Jitender Tyagi said.

Raghviri Devi and her daughter, Rajesh Devi, were crushed to death under a tractor by themover a land disputein Shamli district's Kitana village in October 20, 2010, he said.
 

Raghviri's son-in-law had lodged a complaint at the Kandha Police Station, the lawyer said.
